Seoul Type Lease Deposit Support Program

What is Seoul Type Lease Deposit Support Program (Metropolitan Fund)?

It is an emergency support program targeted for those who do not meet the public welfare system standards as they are struck by unexpected difficulties, and low-income households from the socially vulnerable class who are facing difficulties even with subsidies provided by public and private institutions.

Program target and details

Application eligibility: Socially vulnerable households experiencing residential crises and emergencies (100% below the standard median income) Support areas
  • Emergency living expenses (deposit for lease contract) up to KRW 5 million
How to apply
  • Apply through self-governing boroughs, dong community centers, and local welfare centers in the applicant’s area
Selection procedure
  • Applicants are reviewed by the distribution committee comprised of external experts

Application procedure

  • at all times
    Discovery recommendation
    • Self-governing boroughs, welfare centers, grassroots organizations, civic groups, and others
  • Once a month (from the 1st to the 9th)
    Application period
    • Preliminary review on the income level,
    • and possibility of connection to local support by the self-governing borough
  • Once a month (Thursday in the 4th week)
    Distribution (solution) committee
    • After the end of the application period, the Seoul Welfare Foundation undergoes case review and distribution,
    • and then the distribution (solution) committee holds the 1st round of review and supplementary distribution (solution) committee
  • When requested, the payment is made in seven days after the official letter is received 
    Provision of support funds
    • After the self-governing borough requests payment,
    • the welfare foundation executes payment of the funds to the leaseholder via bank transfer (payment)
  • Within one month after payment of the deposit
    Outcome (settlement) report
    • After providing the funds, the case management institution prepares a report
    • self-governing borough → The welfare foundation (※ Electric letters are received)
  • Less than 10% of total households that received the funds within the program period
    Monitoring
    • Visiting households selected by the case management institution of the
    • welfare foundation’s self-governing borough for monitoring
