Seoul Welfare Foundation’s Contribution to CAC 2020 Global Summit

June 4, 2020 Seoul City hosted the international online conference “CAC Global Summit 2020” from June 1 to 5 for a global discussion to overcome COVID-19. Mayors of cities from across the world and experts in various fields participated to seek ways to fight against COVID-19 and share experiences at the conference. The participants had discussions to defy infectious diseases in all fields of society from the perspective of the cities. The “untact” conference connected the international participants by using the technology of communication. On June 4 (Thu.), Under the title of “Response to blank of care through Care SOS Center”, Jeong Eun-ha from Seoul Welfare Foundation presented Seoul Metropolitan Government’s ambitious project to build a care system that aims to provide wide and various social services for the citizens who needed care. She accounted for SMG's endless effort to eliminate blind spots of care services and pointed out the newly developed care system's values from the social welfare perspective. The deputy mayor of SMG, Kang Byeong-ho announced emergency support with the title, ‘Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Support for Emergency Living Expense”, and the director of Wolgye General Social Welfare Center, Oh Dong Jun presented about community's cope against COVID-19 though the presentation titled “Responses and Efforts of the Community Welfare Centers regarding Covid-19”. SMG aimed at a step forward towards building global solidarity and the cooperative system throughout the summit. City government officials and experts discussed cooperative projects in ten areas in the post-COVID-19 era, including disinfection, climate control, environment, culture, public transportation, smart cities, and social welfare. At the Summit, the “Seoul Declaration” be announced to organize the Megacity Alliance Against Pandemic (MAAP), an international organization for solidarity between cities around the world in response to infectious diseases.

Keynote speech about Seoul’s Care and Welfare through Community Center System Innovation at 2020 International Conference on Forensic Social Work in Taiwan

June 2, 2020 On June 2nd, the international online conference with the title “2020 Make Visible in Action” was held by Ming Chun University at its campus in Taiwan. Eun-ha Jeong and Jiyoung Jerry Yoo from Seoul Welfare Foundation participated in the conference. The conference was from June 1st to June 2nd and covered various subjects such as child protection, mental health, roles of social workers, domestic violence, and welfare policies. Dr. Eun-ha Jeong, the team manager of the public care service support team from SWF gave a keynote speech about Seoul’s Care and Welfare through Community Center System Innovation on June 2nd. Over three hundred audiences have watched the online conference through youtube channel. The conferences drew attention from many Taiwan social workers and students major in forensic social work for Seoul’s innovative welfare delivery system and policies. Seoul Welfare Foundation has exchanged and cooperated with Ming Chun University since 2019 for social welfare researches. Professor Shih-Mei Tai with four graduate student visited SWF to learn about Seoul’s visiting community welfare center project last year.
